I admittedly do not do reviews but this is a great read for anyone the least bit interested in personal growth and spirituality! This is NOT just for the golfer although the setting lends itself to the vast experiences in life that all of us experience. The attention to detail and character development is evident throughout. This IS a book that will be read again - not to be missed. Well done Mr. Livingston.
I don't want to give too much away, but after Chris is diagnosed with a terminal disease he decides to play one last round of golf. This round turns into something far more significant for him. Not being a golfer myself, there was a little too much detail on the specific holes for my taste, but that's just me. It's a great premise, and could easily open up a lot of discussion in a book club, especially if they are interested in spirituality.
After Chris Collins learns he only has days to live, he decides to play the game of golf at a new course Gabriel’s Creek. During the game, he reflects on many aspects of his life. Ralphie, the border collie, becomes attached to Chris and reminds him of the good life with his pets.
The author has written a very moving novel. We are definitely surprised with the ending. You don’t have to love golf to appreciate and enjoy the novel.

I haven't been doing reviews or even rating books lately, but I just had to for this book. This is an AWESOME book. There is so much to it, and the character development is extremely realistic and well done. And the author, Alan Livingston pays so much attention to detail, and takes so much time to research and really learn the technical aspects of what he writes about. EVERYONE needs to read Gabriels Creek one of the best reads I've read all year. I enjoyed it so much I've read it twice.
